A Natural 'Fake' Tan

I decided today that whilst being pale may be interesting, that my face could do with a little added colour. And not wanting to prematurely age my skin, I decided to use my faithful Lavera Summer Glow. This is an amazing product that I discovered last year from my friend Jo, who works for Lavera. It is a facial moisturiser with a touch of fake tan in, which is perfect for the fair skinned or for building up a tan over a number of days. Although natural, the colour develops in a few hours and has left me looking much perkier! You can find Lavera in most health food shops, or go to their website www.lavera.co.uk for more information.

Greener Gardens...

I recently came across this website, Hen and Hammock, whilst looking for suppliers of recycled glass lanterns. They sell sustainable garden products and home wares including gorgeous recycled woolen blankets made in Wales, beautiful pure beeswax candles, natural soaps to grace the most stylish of bathrooms and traditional and sustainable British made deckchairs, as well as all sorts of gardening essentials such as trugs, oak plant labels and so on. Their ethos is to only sell beautifully designed products which benefit the environment too. Check them out on www.henandhammock.co.uk and start making your Christmas wish list!

However, I did come across Rapanui, an ethical, eco friendly and sustainable clothing company. From t-shirts printed with wind turbines on soft organic cotton to bamboo socks, everything on their site is kind to both the environment and people. Have a browse online at www.rapanuiclothing.com

Wild Drugs...

A friend of mine, Zoe Hawes, has just had her new book published - Wild Drugs. It is a lovely book, full of Zoes own photos, and she gives clear advice on how to gather and store herbs, as well as how to use them medicinally. Being a softback book, it is easy to pop into your rucksack to take on that long country walk for a spot of foraging too. Check it out on Amazon, just click the book above.

Etcetera...

I recently came across this book and instantly loved it. It is called Etcetera etc. by Sibella Court and is published by Murdoch Books. It is an interiors book focusing on re-using items, collecting interesting pieces from junk shops and auctions, and being unique in how you style your home. As Amazon describes 'its about thrift and the imagination'. You can order a copy of Etcetera from Amazon, I am waiting for my copy to hit the doormat as I write!

Vintage at Goodwood

I have just discovered that Goodwood will this year host its first Vintage Festival. Set in glorious Sussex countryside, the event will celebrate the best eras ranging from the wartime 1940s to the fabulous 1980s, with music and fashion to suit all tastes. Taking place from 13th - 15th August, ticket holders can try their hand at glamping (glamorous camping) to take advantage of all on show. The organisers have green issues in mind, and will recycle all waste generated on site. Why not enter into the spirit and dress in your favourite vintage outfit. Visit www.vintageatgoodwood.com for more information and to buy tickets.

New Book

Well, my new book, The Natural Wedding Book, is coming on a treat and due for publication in the UK, US and Auz/NZ later this year (hence why my blog has been quiet). Having completed all the chapter text , I am now finishing off the directories for each edition. So if you know of an amazing wedding supplier who you think should be mentioned, drop me a line. Thank you!
